Problems with the sewing machine knows everyone who has one. Out of the blue, it’s acting up. The seam pulls loops, something jams, the needle breaks, etc. You try this and that, are already slightly annoyed and usually quickly at the end of your tether.
Is the machine broken? May be, but often it’s just little things we do or don’t do that can cause problems. Over the years we have been able to help many desperate customers to get their sewing machine working again with a few simple steps. With every problem our know how has increased. We want to share this know-how with you today. So also you have in the one or other case a chance that your stubborn Maschinchen works directly again. Here we go!
Have you really threaded correctly?
The first thing to do when your sewing machine doesn’t sew properly is, of course, this Unthreading and rethreading. Here lies quite often the problem. Even if you are experienced and have done this a thousand times, it happens that you miss an eyelet or the thread is not between but next to The needle has landed in the tension discs. It happens quickly, you can’t really see it that way.
Some people have also threaded when the presser foot was down. This doesn’t work, because then the tension discs are closed and the thread automatically ends up next.
How long have you been sewing with the same needle?
Even the sharpest needle gets blunt over time. If the seam is no longer clean, often this will help Inserting a new needle. And here the rule is: always use a good quality needle (z.B. Schmetz, Prym). As with sewing thread, faulty seam patterns often appear when you use cheap needles (e.g.B. from the discount store).
Are you using the right needle for your sewing project?
As you know, there is a whole range of different sewing machine needles (in the smilla online store). They vary in thickness (from 70 for fine materials, to 80/90 for normal fabrics, to 100 for firmer fabrics), and also in the areas of application. Are you sewing denim or jersey, leather or microfiber?? Are you working on an embroidery machine or are you sitting in front of your overlock? For all this and much more special needles and this has a good reason, which you can not see with the naked eye. Sometimes the whole needle is thicker, the eye of the needle is finer or larger, and often the shape of the tip is worked differently. And always in such a way that the needle pierces perfectly through the material in question, ensuring a neat seam formation.
So if something is wrong, it’s worth taking a look at the needle you’re currently using. Is it the right one for your current project?
Example: For embroidery always use an embroidery needle! It has a larger pinhole.
By the way, it has already happened that someone paid the Needle upside down has used. Actually this is not possible at all, or. only with force, because the needle plunger is curved on one side and flat on the other. But we have also experienced this.
Do you use a really good quality yarn?
quality yarn – all-purpose sewing thread from Gutermann!
Your sewing machine is a bitch, and rightly so. Grandma’s old yarn or cheap thread from the discount store, she does not like at all. Because it fibers, knots or tears. Many problems disappear instantly when you use a Quality yarn inserts, z. B. Gutermann Allesnaher (smilla Onlineshop).
Problems with the sewing machine often due to a wrong bobbin!
The hook area is the epicenter of many problems. And in the middle: the bobbin.
As we all know, you can never have enough bobbins and, somehow or other, most of them look completely the same. So some just use the bobbins from the old sewing machine for the new one. Or use some that were included in the promotional sewing accessories package at the discount store. Or buy some that seem to look the same as the ones in the machine. The scenarios for wrong bobbins are manifold, the effects on your sewing machine from suboptimal to devastating.
Many people are not aware of the importance of exactly the coils used, which are intended for the sewing machine model. Distinguishing a metal coil from a plastic coil may not be the problem, but more criteria are critical. There are horizontal grabs, Apollo grabs, orbital grabs… Also, and this is what makes it so hard, there are size differences in coils that are not even visible to the naked eye. Z.B. 21.2 mm or 21.6 mm. All this makes it almost impossible to judge right away if you have the right coil.
Conclusion: You should not buy bobbins just like that, but make sure that they correspond to the sewing machine model. The brand alone is not enough. And if you go to a specialty store, bring a bobbin with you. More about this also in our blog post about coils.
Has the bobbin been inserted correctly?
Well, this actually happens. In the heat of the sewing battle, you put the Coil the wrong way round pure. On today’s models with horizontal gripper it is in counterclockwise, on older models with double circulation gripper, where the coil is in a metal capsule, it must be inserted clockwise.
In the horizontal hook, the bobbin runs counterclockwise.
Is the bobbin evenly and cleanly wound??
Take a closer look at the thread on the bobbin: is everything evenly wound or is the whole thing too loose and thicker in one place than in the other?? This can also be a reason for a bad seam pattern.
Do you have the same thread in the needle and on the bobbin?
As a rule: Top and bottom threads should be the same thread have. Unless you use an extra strong thread as the upper thread, then it is recommended to use the normal sewing thread for the bobbin, otherwise there may be problems in the hook area.
Is the bobbin holder still locked?
With modern sewing machines bobbin winding is very comfortable. It is no longer necessary to loosen the handwheel. Instead, you put the coil on a holder, thread the thread accordingly and fold the holder to the side so that it snaps into place. The machine then knows that it has to wind. After the winding process, did you coil holder returns to its original position brought? Some people have already forgotten to push the bobbin holder out of its locking position again. Then, of course, nothing works anymore.
Is the presser foot seated correctly (upside down)??
Replacing the presser feet is not a problem with most sewing machines. What actually happens sometimes, however, is that the Sewing foot simply upside down was inserted (happens for example with the zipper foot gladly times).
When did you last clean the hook area??
Problems with the sewing machine are often in the hook area, that is, the area where the bobbin is located. This is the heart of your sewing machine. This is where everything happens, this is where the seam. If your machine ticks, the first thing to do is to take a look at exactly this area. With modern sewing machines, where the bobbin is on top and visible, this is no problem at all. Simply unscrew the stitch plate or push it out and remove the bobbin case. As a rule, a lot of fibers and dust have accumulated underneath the bobbin case. This is the nasty mix that builds up in all kinds of places in your sewing machine and can lead to problems. This Dirt must be removed from time to time. Try this carefully with a brush, which is usually included in the accessories of your sewing machine, or with a cotton swab and tweezers. Use anything that helps you to remove fibers and nodules.
You can remove the rest with the practical compressed air spray. But beware! Never blow into the hook area from above, because then the fibers fly into the inside of the sewing machine. It is better to place the spraying tube under the gripper, so that the fibers are blown out forward/upward.
Does not transport your sewing machine properly?
There are different reasons for this. When you z.B. thick materials or very fine and your sewing machine does not feed properly, then this is – perhaps apart from a wrong needle, often due to an stitch length set too small. Change it e.g. times to 3.5 mm, then it usually runs better.
Sometimes the transport also so filthy with fibers and glued so that the prongs are no longer exposed and can therefore no longer feed properly. This must be cleaned.
PFAFF IDT system – Absolutely even fabric feed from below and above.
If you have a sewing machine with top feed (PFAFF IDT-SYSTEM), you will have far fewer problems. The material is then synchronously transported not only from below but also from above. This is the perfect way to process even the most demanding materials. You can find out more about the IDT-SYSTEM here.
If the material has eaten into the stitch plate?
This also happens to everyone once in a while: you wanted to use a very thin material (z.B. viscose jersey) and now it is stuck in the stitch plate. Attention: Now just do not pull it out by force. This can cause something to shift in the hook area and then nothing works at all.
Take off the stitch plate instead and carefully take out the fabric.
To prevent this from happening in the first place, start with materials like these never directly at the beginning of the fabric to sew, but always a few millimeters in fabric so that the sewing machine feed has something to grab onto and doesn’t run into the void. Or you take another piece material, start sewing with it and create a kind of bridge/transition to the actual material.
If the needle keeps breaking?
A lot of things come together here. If, for example, you want to sew several layers, i.e. if there is "a lot going on" under the presser foot, then it is important that you do not start sewing at the very front of the fabric, but a few millimeters further on at fabric (if necessary. then sew a few stitches backwards), because your sewing machine needs a reasonable area of material that it can transport, otherwise it will pick up nothing and the needle will break off.
Also the speed plays a big role with tricky materials or seams. Here it is called "Sew slowly"! With computer sewing machines you can adjust the speed continuously, this is actually a great advantage when sewing.
Also if you want to sew over a thick seam in the sewing process, z.B. over a jeans seam, then immediately take the speed out and help the needle gently over the mountain. This can also be done by hand wheel.
With this part you help the sewing machine over the hill.
Or you take a clever part, which is sometimes included in the accessories, with which you can form a bridge and your sewing machine will also manage this.
Very important: when sewing never pull on the fabric at the back! This is useless, so the needle can break off. Your sewing machine should feed the fabric by itself. You just make sure that it keeps the direction.
Sometimes you forget to pull the pins out of the fabric in time and the sewing machine needle bangs on it and breaks. This is unpleasant, so be sure to think about it.
If the stitch plate has a bump?
Sometimes, if the needle is broken, it may be that the needle plate is damaged as well. Often you don’t even notice it, but the thread can rub against exactly this small furrow. Sooner or later this will lead to problems. So it is worth to have a closer look. Is the Stitch plate damaged, it should be replaced. You can order them from your dealer and reattach them yourself.
Generally applies: never with force!
Most damage happens because you try to force something, or just keep sewing when it’s already snagged, or pull on the fabric, or, or, or. No matter what, it will only make things worse. Sometimes you pull the bobbin case out of position or the needle breaks off and hits the presser foot, the stitch plate or even the bobbin case. You can then see the little craters where the thread later rubs and breaks. The result, the damaged part must be renewed.
Important tip for all
PFAFF smarter, passport or ambition own!
Maybe you pulled on the fabric and now it doesn’t sew properly anymore? Then you are guaranteed to have pulled the bobbin case out of its position. Take off the stitch plate and have a closer look at the hook area.
This is how the little nose fits correctly.
There is a small "nose" here. This must sit in front of the spring. Sometimes, if you pulled too hard, it jumps behind and then there are problems. If it does, just take out the bobbin case and put it back in properly. Then the machine runs correctly again and you save the way to us.
Here the small nose has slipped. Error!
Do you process a material with braking effect?
This can z.B. Try sewing on leather or oilcloth – materials over which the presser foot does not glide as easily as over fabric. There are so-called Special glide soles or Teflon feet called. You have a special coating that ensures optimal transport. If you often work with such materials, it is worth the purchase. Otherwise, just try using sandwich paper or tissue paper and it will go like clockwork.
If your seam does not look good on jersey?
Working with stretchy materials (e.g. B. Jersey) with the sewing machine is a complex subject, where you can make a lot of mistakes. After all, every sewing machine has different requirements and is more or less suitable for it. The decisive factor is u.a. the choice and setting of the stitch, the needle and some other things. We have written a separate blog post on this subject, which you should take a closer look at.
Changing the thread tension – not always helpful!
If an unclean seam pattern appears or the seam loops, most people start directly to change the thread tension. With moderate results, because the fault, as you now know, usually lies elsewhere. For newer models/computer sewing machines: Each stitch has an optimal thread tension, which either adjusts itself (automatic thread tension) or which you can read in a table and adjust yourself. With this tension should come out an optimal seam. If it does not do this during a normal sewing process, something is indeed wrong. Because only certain materials (z.B. very thick cotton fleece) or special sewing techniques (z.B. sewing free-motion) may require a change in thread tension.
With older models with double circulation hook, it may be more likely to regulate the thread tension and see if it was due to that.
Does a drop of sewing machine oil help?
Many people think that if there are problems with the sewing machine, they can be fixed with oil. This works at most with older models. For newer machines oiling is no longer an issue. Please do not put oil in the hook area here. The exact information whether or not you can take from your operating instructions.
When was your sewing machine last inspected??
Was she ever? One of the most important questions to ask when a sewing machine starts to make problems. An inspection is a kind of wellness cure for your machine.
The general recommendation is: if you sew a lot, then every one to two years. You notice yourself when something is no longer working properly. Then it is time.
Problems with the sewing machine? This is the impressive result of many years of sewing and never inspection.
What all is done during an inspection and why it is so important, you can read in our blog article on the topic. An inspection is not cheap, but in general, most problems with a sewing machine are solved during and by an inspection. It also prolongs the life of the machine. As with everything you cherish and care for.
Have not solved the problems with the sewing machine?
If you have checked all this and it still doesn’t work, then you will have to send your machine to the Inspection or repair give. Be sure to clarify in advance what costs you may incur. With us there are z.B. in terms of repair the rule that it may be done up to € 100.00 without consultation. Everything that lies above, must be clarified with you in advance. So you keep the control over the whole thing.
And it is also important that you consider in advance whether this machine is the right one for you Investment still in relation to the value Your machine stands. Even if you are so attached to it. Because, if the machine z.B. has only cost € 150,00 or it is already incredibly old, or… sometimes a repair for a minimum of €100,00 is just not worth it. It makes more sense to invest the money in a new sewing machine for more contemporary comfort and sewing fun. What you should look for when buying, you can read in our blog post 35 tips when buying a sewing machine!
So, I hope we could help you with our tips.
Allzeit much fun and little trouble with sewing wishes you
Ps: Dear ones, we see the many inquiries about problems with your machines. But please understand that we can not solve them here. With our contribution we only wanted to give you a few important hints. Everything else is beyond the scope of our possibilities.

where can you buy the part that helps the sewing machine over the hill (bridge)?? I have already looked for it on the Internet at sewing machine accessories. Unfortunately, the functioning of the bridge is also not described.
I am always looking for ideas how to get over such hurdles comfortably, especially with jeans seams it is always a problem.
Thank you very much.
Dear Steffi, this part is included in the standard accessories of PFAFF sewing machines. Write us a mail to [email protected] We might be able to order that for you.
Thank you. But I have been a bit blonde. The bobbin was not inserted correctly.
Thank you for explaining how top and bobbin thread should have the same thread. My wife wants to try sewing as a new hobby so she is trying to learn a bunch of tips right now. I will share this tip with her, and I will also help her find the spare parts needed to repair the sewing machine we own so she can get started.
my presser foot will not raise and lower anymore. As soon as I press the lever it does not do anything
… unfortunately it is not possible for us to say what the reason is. you have to bring the machine to the repair, wherever you live.
Hello, I have an AEG 11681 sewing machine, it still sews very well, but unfortunately the reverse gear no longer works, what could be the reason for this?? I would appreciate an answer. Thanks for your HELP.
Dear Sabine, unfortunately we can not say that. Surely some part is broken.
Dear Bine In many plastic and other sewing machines the mechanics of the backward sewing gum up especially because of not using it.
Again, heat hairdryer and a little medicinal alcohol will help to fix this.
Using a disposable syringe with alcohol, drizzle the mechanism and move it slightly. after that new oiling.
My husband bought me a sewing machine. When sewing samples I noticed that the needle always comes back to the metal. Same with sewing back and forth as well . Where the needle breaks.
What could I have done wrong
Since I also do not want to damage my new sewing machine right away.
Thanks a lot.
Dear Anette, if you had the machine in front of you, we would definitely find out quickly what is going wrong. But it is difficult or impossible to diagnose remotely.Maybe you have to ask where your husband bought it?
The thread always wraps around the bobbin of the Singer M 1605
Hi I have a Singer 8280L, I broke the plastic part where you put the top thread on it. (Sorry I do not know exactly designation… thread admission&&♀️ ) you can replace this part? If so where can I find such a spare part?
The needle has slipped in when changing no longer visible, so not to get out . The sewing does not work now, it rattles and he thread spins and sits tightly.schulze
Dear Annedore, I am afraid you will have to send your machine for repair.
Hello dear smilla team,
the foot controller of my Passport 2.0. does not react anymore. I can only sew over the button. Have already tried everything possible, in vain. The machine was not used in Oct. bought from you in 2019.
There were also no special incidents.
Maybe you can help virtually. &Thank you for this and best regards
My sewing machine does not tighten the bobbin thread…I observed the whole thing once and it did not need any bobbin thread only upper thread. I really don’t know quite what to do!
Hello, I have a Husguarna, model 2771 sewing machine . I am in despair. I have tried everything. The thread on the fabric looks good, but at the bottom the thread is looping. What can it be. Can it be that I need a new bobbin or
must have a new reel holder? Unfortunately, I no longer have a description of the machine. I would be grateful for a positive message to them. Kind regards Hanne.
Dear Buedenbender . If you have loops underneath the fabric so it is that the upper thread tension is too little. In a manual of any sewing machine of neighbors in your area, you can look up this setting
I have a Singer7422.Unfortunately it does not work anymore. It does not bring the bobbin thread up.The handwheel works it does not block.Coil is inserted correctly. What could be the reason?LG Silvia
Hello dear Smilla team,
I have carefully read your troubleshooting tips. I am a beginner and use an old machine from my parents, a Singer 5805, probably 30 years old. It does what it is supposed to so far. However, what I notice is that the stitch length does not change when I adjust the straight stitch on the wheel. I assume that the number on the wheel indicates the length in mm? On the maximum setting, my machine sews a stitch length of maximum 2.5 mm, but on the zig-zag stitch I notice a change when I test different settings here. Also, changing the thread tension is not really seen. I am currently sewing normal cotton fabric. I won’t venture into the other (stretchy) stuff until I’ve had enough practice. Off the top of your head, do you guys have any tips for me on whether I can still do something here or if I should probably look into getting a new device after all?
I thank you for reading and replying. Love, great service!
Thanks for this article about problems with the sewing machine. I want to be prepared for future problems. This article will help me.
I proximity masks right now. Now the needle is stuck in the mask. I have already taken out the bobbin and cut away both the upper and lower thread . I just can’t get the needle to turn out anymore. I have no idea what I can do without cutting the mask if it would work at all then. What else can I do ?
My Pfaff sewing machine won’t turn the drive wheel anymore. Totally stuck. Out of the blue. Here where I live there is no representation of Pfaff. I live in the south of Brazil. What can I do to.to get the wheel loose again. Respectfully
Hi Tina, I am a complete beginner in sewing.
I have many questions but first the most important one for me at the moment. Why does the seam on one side pull such small loops?
So, I sew around the curtain and then, on the front are these little loops.
My Singer 764 does not sew a straight seam. How to set it. I can’t get it&♂️
My Singer 764 won’t sew a straight seam. How to adjust it. I can not get it&♂️
Hi, unfortunately we can’t do remote diagnostics on sewing machine problems. Each model is somehow different, we would have to see to find out what is going wrong. If you have a dealer nearby, then take the machine there. Maybe they can help you.
The top has fallen off where needle is inserted and the tension…even if I have it tight it falls off at the first stitch…
How should it look or is something fall out which is important for the hold?
Hello dear Steffen, unfortunately we cannot make remote diagnoses of sewing machine problems. Each model is different in some way, we would have to see that to find out what is going wrong. If you have a dealer nearby, then take the machine there. Maybe they can help you.
as a beginner I have problems with my Gritzner Tipmatic1037. The needle always bumps into the device the coil was put into. What can be done in the case?
Thank you very much for your help
Hello, unfortunately we can not make remote diagnoses of sewing machine problems. Each model is different in some way, we would need to see that to figure out what is going wrong. If you have a dealer nearby, take the machine there. Maybe they can help you.
I’m desperate because my sewing machine (Pfaff Hobby 1040) can’t even get the simplest seams correct, yet it was only in for inspection in April. Is however already older (ca.20 years). The problem is that the top fabric is not transported with it despite plugging or even spot gluing. The result looks like this: with fabrics of the same length placed exactly on top of each other, there is already an offset of 0.5 cm on a length of 23 cm, because the lower layer of fabric is virtually curled up. I already cleaned everything, changed the needle, changed the foot and now I just don’t know anymore. you can help me?
Dear Christiane, remote diagnosis of sewing machines is usually not possible. If I were you, I would take the machine to a PFAFF dealer and ask him/her to take a look at it. Or rather, where did you have it for inspection?? Can not you go there?
I have renewed everything changed the needle rethreaded the bobbin checked and still it does not take the bobbin thread with it
I have not been sewing that long and am excited about this post that touched on everything elementary…I am currently having trouble with the machine and am now going through everything based on your description now. Wurderbar when people who have mastered something like this share their knowledge. a thousand thanks!
Dear Hanne, thank you very much!
My mother has a Pfaff passport 2.0 bought. The following problem: The sewing stitch setting. z.B. Zigzag stitch blind stitch … can’t get it to adjust properly. The enclosed instruction booklet does not help. Is there any way to get a video tutorial with german language?
If someone can help us would be great. Thanks a lot
Hello dear smilla team,
Today I wanted to sew a project with my Pfaff quilt ambition 2. 0 sew. Unfortunately, the motor does not work, when I press the pedal, nothing happens. I had it in use two weeks ago, there was the indication "motor overloaded" on the display quite often.
These are many practical tips that have made the machine more understandable to me, a layman. After the 10.broken needle I will now more know the specialist to consult. Dear thanks to Berlin from Stuttgart!
The threading aid no longer grips around the needle. I cannot put the thread under the small lugs.
Sorry, it is done. The needle had not moved all the way up.
The hook of my sewing machine has been making crunching noises for a while now and I have not been able to find out what the problem is. I have already cleaned everything once. When sewing, the thread always gets tangled after a few stitches. Do you have any idea what could be the reason for this??
my straight seam always makes very small curves to the right or left, although I guide the fabric completely straight … I sew with a Bernina virtuosa 153 on oilcloth. And it has been for years. The seam was always perfect. I have done everything. Needle plate and hook out, cleaned, oiled, new needle in. I always use the good ones from Schmetz. The seam pattern is otherwise good, top and bobbin threads don’t peek out at the top or bottom with either. But every few centimeters the seam jumps a bit to the right or left, which it never used to do … do you have a tip??
Hello and good day to all,
my sewing machine is already a bit older.
Lately she has been sewing 5 cm and not three cm.
Also the lower thread can only be brought up with effort.
Can you please help me?`
I have a problem with my sewing machine. It is a quite old DDR model from Veritas and a thread has got stuck in the spook capsule and I just can’t get it out of there. Thus the machine is blocked. I have already taken off the stitch plate and tried to pull out the thread with tweezers, but it broke and is now so short that I can’t even grab it with tweezers.
Do you maybe have an idea what I can do?
I have sewn until a few years ago quite a lot, then the sewing machine stood (Brother Innov-is 900 – a combined computer sewing and embroidery machine) and then last year she made no more noise. I gave it away for repair. The grease had gummed up the moving parts due to lack of movement (plus dust). The machine was disassembled, cleaned, re-lubricated and reassembled again. Sewing and embroidery was tested and worked apparently. This is now again ca. 3 months ago. I haven’t sewn it since I got it back, but at least I’ve kept it closed in a bag since then. Today I wanted to sew. Applique fabric pictures on felt. I used to use the zigzag stitch with a very small stitch length. Today the feed dog keeps on pushing the fabric at the same speed, no matter what stitch length I set. I am quite desperate at the moment. Would anyone have an idea what I could try to solve the problem myself before I try to call the repairer again tomorrow??
Until yesterday, my PFAFF ClassicStyle fashion 2023 did it perfectly. Today, out of the blue, nothing works anymore. Only the sewing light is on at startup, display and pedal are dead, motor doesn’t make a sound. I have unplugged everything and plugged it back in, does nothing. So power comes on, but does not align anything. What can it be, what can I do?
Grateful for any tips, all love,
Hello, I need help: In the bobbin of my old, faithful Veritas sewing machine, the "bobbin thread" got "stuck" in the first stitch, so I can’t get the bobbin to turn because a piece of thread is stuck in it .
I have already flushed with petroleum as recommended – nothing happens ! Can you help me?
I have Singer Tradition.
I would need zig zag setting, but it does not work
The bobbin case of my machine holds the bobbin thread back too tightly on the bobbin. The thread always breaks. The bobbin is inserted correctly.
Thanks for an answer
With kind regards
Hello, I am slowly at the end with my Latain. I have a Pfaff Expression 3.5. Almost 2 years old, little sewn. I want to serge a light cotton fabric with the zig zag stitch 5. the machine pulls the fabric together in the stitch area as if the thread tension is too tight. The same bad seam pattern is z.B., when I want to sew jersey with a twin needle. Where can be the fault?
Hello, on my singer sewing machine the stitch length keypad is stuck. Since then she has been spinning. Can I open the case myself?
Just thanks for all the tips.
Hello dear sewers,
i bought my daughter a JANOME Mini Deluxe and finally she actually starts to sew :-)))
But the thread can’t be brought up from the bottom and I have already asked several friends who are actually good at it. It’s not working..
Does anyone have a tip or does anyone know a store in berlin that could repair something like this??
Dear ladies and gentlemen
I own an ambition 1.5 from Pfaff and I am having trouble with the bobbin case again. This one doesn’t hold its position when sewing without me pulling on the fabric or something like that as described above. It is also independent of the fabric or stitch so or what I do, z.B. Free arm embroidery. I can service my machine myself, my father was a master tailor and taught me how to do it. Here I am however with my Latin at the end…When the machine was new, the bobbin case was relatively tight, now it has play of several millimeters….I am waiting for feedback from my dealer in vain…
Can you help me further?
With kind regards
Hello, I wrote a comment below because I had the same problem – it’s very simple. loosen the screw from the spring, it does not have to be completely out, move the spring a little to the left and tighten it again, then the nose of the capsule can no longer slip over it.
we are always careful about doing it ourselves. Unfortunately, we have often seen that customers have made a problem worse instead of better by "doing it themselves", and in the worst case lose their warranty claim. If in doubt, please contact your dealer again, he should be your first point of contact for problems. I keep my fingers crossed that your machine is quickly fit again!
The lower transport spring has come off.
now I don’t know where to put it.
can someone help me.?
Thank you very much.
Nevertheless I still have a problem. How to adjust the bobbin holder plate on eier Singer Capri 40? The Apolle bobbin holder is no longer in place. It is quite loose, wobbles and then falls out completely, respectively. is jamming properly. Now I have been told that the holder plate must be adjusted. Would be very grateful for a tip.
Hello I have a texi ballerina sewing machine, it has served me well for some time now. It has 200 different sewing programs. For some time I can no longer set a program, the buttons of the numbers do not respond. Only the upper buttons CL, ME, MI and RE respond and make a sound when I press them. All other buttons down I can press as I want and it happens nothing. The display lights up normally. I can no longer adjust anything. At the moment I can only sew with the first program and that’s it. Is it possible that the display has been locked by mistake?? Or is it defective? Can this be repaired? Hopefully you can help me.
Thanks a lot
With kind regards
we can’t possibly answer that by remote diagnosis, I’m afraid you’ll have to have your machine looked at in a repair shop. That you can partially lock a display I have never heard before. If there should be information about this in the manual of your machine.
I keep my fingers crossed that your machine is quickly fit and ready for use again!
You write above : Quote: "Important tip for all who want to buy a sewing machine
Own PFAFF smarter, passport or ambition! …" It would have been much better if you had written the real solution. I own a Pfaff creative 1.5 and a Quilt ambition 2.0 both have the "nose" on the bobbin case and both have this spring. The capsule never slips on the creative quilting machine. Until I found out that it is the coil that is slipping. While researching I came across this article.
If you now loosen the 2 screws of the spring and move it minimally to the left, the capsule can no longer slip over and sewing is fun again.
In this sense I wish you all the best, because otherwise the article / contribution is topp.
great if it worked for you with the self-adjustment. In case of doubt we always recommend to have this work done in a repair shop. Unfortunately, we have often experienced that customers have made a problem worse instead of better by "doing it themselves", and in the worst case even forfeited their warranty claim. Therefore, we cannot in good conscience recommend this across the board.
My Carina Creativ sewing machine has a quirk. I can no longer move the presser foot bar up and down. What can be there?
from a distance it is hard to say. If the machine has been standing for a long time, it could be that it is gummed up or that something is z.B. blocked the bobbin area so that rod no longer moves freely. In your manual should also be info on cleaning, and if all does not help you probably have to visit a workshop with the machine. Good luck!
Hello I have a question my wife has an old Elna Supermatic fresh from the service now she has adjusted something and suddenly the foot pedal no longer goes. Can you help with this? M.f.g Patrick Huber
if the machine has just been serviced, be sure to go back to the shop or dealer that serviced it. Maybe something needs to be adjusted. From a distance we cannot judge.
I keep my fingers crossed that the machine will run again soon!
Hello, I have a pfaff performers 5.2.have already used it ca. 5years, now it has reported error thread under the bobbin. I have checked and cleaned everything. And rushes it does not start anymore&m at a loss. Melly&
Dear Melly, that’s a pity, actually everything should run better after cleaning…The error message thread under the stitch plate appears when the machine detects a foreign object (thread rest, much dust etc.).). Maybe you put something back in the wrong way, the bobbin holder under the needle plate or something like that?? This could cause the machine to jam for the time being. Please check everything, and also look in your manual. There is information about cleaning on the last page. I keep my fingers crossed that your machine will soon be up and running again!
have a Pfaff Classic Style 2025.
I bought this one a few years ago and tried it out. Everything worked.
Now it has been in the closet for some time. Now I wanted to use it and found,
that the handwheel does not go. The bobbin thread does not come up.
What could be the problem?
Thanks for an answer.
please check that nothing is jammed, z.B. under the bobbin plate. If something has slipped here, it can be that the whole machine is blocked.
Sometimes the oil also gums up when a machine is unused for a long time. In any case, an inspection at a sewing machine workshop should help you.
I hope your machine will run again soon!
Nemachine starts with green light suddenly with red the machine fails.
Hello, please contact a workshop. From a distance we cannot possibly say what is wrong with your machine.
these were helpful tips..
my brother is spinning right now – out of the blue,
I had just sewn a bag, everything was fine,
at first it did not sew backwards anymore,
now only backwards…
I own a Blaupunkt Comfort 930 (3 years) have been satisfied so far, unfortunately I can no longer select programs, it sews only straight stitches. Is there a solution to my problem? I am only a casual sewer.
Hello, this can not be answered from a distance. Possibly there is an electronic error.
Please contact the dealer where you bought the machine.
Good luck, love
Dear Sir or Madam, the needle from my Singer Heritage broke off while sewing. After I mounted a new needle, I noticed that the needle tends more to the left. How do I get the needle back to the center of the presser foot?? Many thanks in advance. With kind regards Karin Schafer
In the simplest case you have not inserted the new needle straight. Please check that the small set screw that holds the needle is open far enough, you insert the needle with the flat side to the back and all the way up.
If it is still crooked, you might have damaged the needle bar when breaking off the old needle…
Unfortunately that would be a case for a workshop.
Hi my daughter got a Pfaff Smarter 140, only the straight stitch works, the other stitches snap but don’t work.. is there a tip? lg
