Feedback on the ssd installation course

I have always flirted with SSDs and even installed some in my computers, but was not always satisfied with the results.

Feedback to the SSD installation course

Interested in a video course for SSD installation? came the question from Dietmar. Well I thought, why not… but I didn’t want to jump on this bandwagon so briskly, because some time ago the SSD hard disk in my wife’s desktop crashed miserably.
Of all things, the SSD – everyone says they are so well suited for the rather hard-working notebooks – and in our case the one in a desktop scratches off, best living conditions for such a data storage device.
Thanks to regular backup and device warranty it turned out smoothly – I then got a double sized SSD storage for the same price (because of the price collapse).

Now the concrete purchase offer came from Dietmar, so the course was almost finished in the meantime. Somehow the desire to experiment took hold of me, and after the best experiences with the WMP course I had full confidence and knew that Dietmar would certainly not leave me out in the rain if there should be problems with the notebook conversion.

Some more time passed until I tackled this project. I watched the video tutorial. In the back of my mind I also heard Dietmar’s words: Never touch a running system! Well finally I never had problems with the two notebooks… no HDD failures nix. Why should I now change to SSD? At some point I had the idea to take a closer look at the date on the purchase receipt of both notebooks: 2009… ohhh, then this HDD will rotate soon 6(!) years – that can go on well, but the chance for a crash increases.

I decided to buy a recommended 500GB SSD, which was also in stock at the dealer nearby in the rack. The recommendation in the video served me well, otherwise how would I know which product is quite reliable?

So I had now the hardware completely ready, incl. Tools, the software is included in the course yes.
Step by step I proceeded – I like the printable checklists for the SSD installation: for me it was called "Checklist SSD installation for PCs/Laptops with shifted user profiles…".

The HDD was easy to find in the notebook. To my joy, the SSD is in a bay with a cover that can be opened from the side. Very easy to replace, no fine wires or breakable connectors/boards.

Now a brave step is already done and I can restore the backup. Also here: with the good instruction from the video, simply problem-free.

Tension rises: will Windows 7 start on the new SSD?? … yes, it does, as if the old rotating HDD was still mounted… but now much faster!

Now comes the fine-tuning, which is important for the daily operation and the life expectancy of the SSD. What is important here: highest concentration and exact following of the instructions. Then nothing goes wrong!
A bit fast is the explanation of the path… just stop video, and when you’re ready, let video go on. Then it comes well.

Can I do something wrong?

Hardly possible. If you have an installation bay like my notebook, then look inside before sliding the SSD in to make sure you slide the SSD in so that it fits on the internal connector.
