Learn more about the direct selling industry as a whole, research network companies carefully, and determine if you work well with your sponsor. The truth is, while you’re already thinking about your wealth, statistics show that less than one in 100 networkers actually achieve success or make money. However, this is not necessarily the fault of the network company.

2) Find a company with a product you love

Do your research on the products and services and work with a company that has a product or offering you are passionate about. Don’t forget to look into the company’s compensation plan before you join and make sure it is beneficial to you.
3) Be honest and ethical
One reason direct selling gives a bad impression is that many consultants exaggerate and sometimes downright deceive to attract new recruits. This leads many to believe that the network marketing companies themselves encourage this behavior, when in fact they do not.
Legitimate companies want you to be honest in your dealings with customers and potential employees. If you love your product, your enthusiasm is enough to promote it. Just make sure you don’t exaggerate or make exaggerated or false claims.

4) Don’t make your friends and family feel insecure

Many companies suggest making a list of 100 people you know, and while that’s not wrong, keep in mind that the most successful networkers have very few people from their initial list of 100 in their company. Success in network marketing comes from how serious you are about running your own business. As in any other self-employment, it should always be about the people first. Will HIS needs and goals be met and will want what you have to offer? This may just mean figuring out who the target market is for your products/services, as well as the business opportunity that needs to fit each one.
5) Identify your target market
One of the biggest mistakes new multipliers make is thinking of everyone (including friends and family #4) as a potential customer or new hire. This is one area where the network marketing industry gets it wrong. Like any other business, you will have more success and efficiency if you identify your target market and focus your marketing efforts on them.
Someone who is not interested in vitamins or health and wellness is not a good person to talk to or a good prospect to make fun of your business.
6) Make an effort to share your product/business plan every day
Many sponsors will have you focus on recruiting new business; however, your income, practiced through serious network marketing, comes from selling products or services (whether through you or your business partners). In addition, customers who love the products or services can be more easily converted into new business builders.
Just like any other business (home-based or otherwise), the key to attracting new customers and newcomers is to make the presentation about your product or service to. And this is to the benefit of your target market. Some ideas include giving away a product sample, inviting a neighbor to host a product party, or starting a website or social media account.
7) Listen to and sell the solution to the problem
Many companies offer scripts to help you sell the product or service. While they can be helpful in educating you about your product and dealing with objections, sales is about being a solution to a customer’s needs. By first qualifying your contact and then addressing their needs, you can tailor your pitch to be the solution to their problem.

Direct selling is like any other business. It can and should be marketed in a variety of ways, taking into account your target market, what they need, how you can help them, and where to find them. To do this, you can use a variety of marketing tools, including a website (check your company’s policies on websites), email and social media to drive product sales and interest in your company.
9) Stand out from other distributors
One of the challenges in network marketing is convincing prospects to buy from you or work with you as opposed to the other reps who live in the neighborhood or already exist online. You sell the same "stuff" as thousands of others, which means consumers have a choice. You need to do something that makes you unique compared to everyone else. Give people a reason why your offer seems more interesting versus other reps. Some options include more personalized service, starting your own rewards program, or something that offers more value.
10) Develop a system for following up
While you don’t want to bother and annoy anyone, in many cases you can make the sale or recruit at a later date. Sales is often about timing, and "no" in sales doesn’t always mean "never".
If someone tells you no, but there was something in the dialogue that suggests they might be interested in the future, ask if you can add them to your eMail list, or if you can call in six months to reconnect. Many will give their eMail or phone number just because they want to be nice. Still use your calendar or contact system to remind yourself when to call. Changed life circumstances with prospective customers can lead to new decisions.
