Third day of negotiations

Could the bloodshed in Gasseldorf have been prevented??

Bamberg/Forchheim – One question loomed large on the third day of the trial at the Bamberg Regional Court: Could the terrible bloody deed near Gasseldorf have been prevented? Because the 19-year-old accused of murder had apparently announced the crime to her best friend. But she did not take the whole thing seriously.

She was going to "go out and kill one and then some", she should wish her luck. Shortly before the fatal knife attack, the defendant’s best friend receives a voice message like this one. In it also the plan what she would do with her ex-lover. She tells him, "I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes." And then you hear a sound that mimics a stabbing knife.

Later, the accused writes in a WhatsApp chat that she has learned "that the biggest serial killer has committed 250 murders. You have to manage that first." You in any case go now to the NBK, what for "Natural Born Killer stands. This refers to a murder. "I have no other choice."

But instead of taking the threat seriously and informing the police that it could have prevented the announced crime, the best friend only thinks of warning the accused that it could go wrong. "How are you going to do that without going to jail??" At the same time, she searches the Internet for information on whether you can be punished if you know about an attempted murder, but does nothing about it. Apparently not good enough. Because your inactivity will cause you some trouble in the near future.

Senior public prosecutor Michael Hoffmann announced that the best friend will have to answer to the district court of Forchheim for not reporting planned crimes. This offense may be punished by a fine. However, up to five years imprisonment is also possible.

It was impossible for her to comment on the accusations – not until the end of the process. These few words are what necessitate extensive questioning of the defendant’s friends and acquaintances.

Especially a young woman from the Oberland brought light into the darkness. She told about the separation of the accused from her longtime partner, which happened shortly before the bloody deed. "There were always disputes of some kind." The young man had been so afraid of her that he had to "escort" his belongings out of the shared apartment fetched.

One had agreed upon even a code, should it in the dwelling to an incident come: at the curtain rattle. The parting was then less dramatic than expected. That the caution was by no means unfounded was shown by a selfie video in which the defendant poses with the later murder weapon.

Finally, we learned a bit more about the murdered 39-year-old man, who apparently fit into the "prey pattern" of the defendants fell. She has a soft spot for older men. He was from northern Iraq and had been living in Germany for almost eight years, as reported by a good friend from Nuremberg. He worked for a security company at the refugee shelter in Zirndorf, Germany. In his spare time, he liked to play soccer in an amateur club in Furth. The devout Muslim did not smoke or drink."

"He had a job, a car and an apartment", according to the friend. Six months after his murder, the single man would have actually wanted to get married. "He was very decent". However, it did not come to it any more. Since the family, except for a brother in Nuremberg, still lives in northern Iraq, his body was flown out to his home country after the autopsy by forensic experts at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and also buried there. This explains why there is no ancillary prosecution to protect his interests in court.

In view of two details, besides jealousy of her ex-lover and hatred of all men, another motive would come into question: racism.

The accused namely gave her later victim an insulting, clearly racist connotation and was already convicted once at the district court of Forchheim for using signs of unconstitutional organizations: She had had two swastikas painted on the back of her left hand in blue and black paint by another young man.

The remaining touches with the juvenile judge concerned insults to police officers on the parade ground and drug offenses. So they found small amounts of ecstasy tablets and marijuana at her place.
