I have Win 10 and ne fine Fritz Box 6490 Cable.
Now I bought a Fritz WLAN Stick. the AC 430. and this can not be installed for the life of me.
When I put the stick in, in the appropriate USB slot, the green LED lights up once briefly. Ready. Nothing happens anymore. Also nothing after 30 minutes.
In the device manager the stick appears with a yellow !. Installation neither from the CD nor from the net possible. After several minutes the installation aborts due to an error. Timeout. Also no installation as .inf possible. Abort after minutes. If I start the installation routine of the CD by hand. appears the message that installation is not possible. I may insert the stick. everything else would go by itself. Not at all!
Do I put this stick in an old notebook. Win 7 Prof., installs the stick within a few minutes. and runs flawlessly.
Have the latest driver from AVM. it should be Win 10 compatible.
Kaspersky monitors my system.
AVM has no explanation either. I should read out the box and send it as zip.
Does anyone have any ideas??

stupid question: did the Win7 notebook have internet access during the stick installation via its built-in WLAN? In that case Windows Update can pull the driver directly from Microsoft.
If the Win10 computer was offline during the installation (i.e. not connected to the FritzBox via LAN cable/integrated WLAN/the previous USB stick), I would try the whole thing (after uninstalling the faulty driver)!) try again with the computer online. If this works, it would be a real prank on the part of AVM.
Otherwise: When you insert the stick, a removable disk appears in Windows Explorer? It could be that there is a data partition with the driver software on the stick – then you could try to start it manually from there. Or if the disk appears on Win7, but not on Win10, that’s where the problem is. Other USB port (USB 3.0. ) try?
What else could be: Maybe the Win10 driver expects that there is FritzBox configuration data on the stick. If you don’t connect the WLAN stick to the FritzBox (!) connected to play the configuration on it, I would uninstall again all faulty drivers, and it exactly in the order (1. Stick to FritzBox, 2. Stick to PC) try again.
I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head. Can tomorrow at work times look if we have the stick there and whether and how the works with Windows 10.
Best regards
Christoph

Answer: the stick does not appear in the explorer. Tried all ports. Nada.
What could also be: Maybe the Win10 driver compulsorily expects that there is configuration data of the FritzBox on the stick. If you do not connect the WLAN-Stick first to the FritzBox (!) to put the configuration on it, I would uninstall all faulty drivers again, and do it exactly in the order (1. Stick to Fritzbox, 2. Try stick to PC) again.
Answer: I have previously plugged the stick for access data in the Fritz box, the data loaded and in the PC. Nothing.
Off the top of my head I can not think of more. Can tomorrow at work times look if we have the stick there and whether and how the works with Windows 10.

Have just tried around. Schwupps. suddenly the stick appears in the device manager. it is listed in the properties as "Device works fine" led. BUT. no light is on. And the stick does not appear anywhere in the network settings. I can not even with the Fritz Box recognize the stick anywhere. there is no connection to the stick. Even the small tool from Fritz, which shows me if and how the stick is connected, explains that no stick is plugged in, although the same appears in the device manager, without error!
Had Kaspersky already deactivated. no installation possible. Thank you Torben.
