Transfer Spotify local files to smartphone! Adding private music to Spotify! – Tutorial

In the world of music, Spotify has almost all the tracks you could want in its database. However, due to licensing issues, you may not find your favorite local music files there. I am a fan of Bollywood music, but there are many albums that are not available on Spotify due to the same issue.

So when I wanted to listen to songs on Spotify Mobile, I had to either stick to the available tracks or open the stock music player to play the songs stored on the internal SD card.

I was desperately looking for a way to sync local music files to a mobile device so Spotify would recognize and play them. After spending some time in the app and online forums, I found a way to solve the problem.

So let’s take a look at how to sync local music files with the Spotify mobile app.

Spotify Mobile App Sync

Step 1: First, we need to import local music into the Spotify desktop application. To do this, open the Spotify app on your computer and click Edit> Settings , to open the Spotify configuration.

Step 2: Search for local files in the settings and mark the sources from which you want to view local music. You can add sources like Windows Media Player and iTunes library directly by simply enabling the corresponding options. If you want to add selected folders, click the Add Source button and the browser for the folder. Spotify will scan all files and folders as well as music files for Spotify.

Step 3: All the files you import into Spotify can be viewed and played in the Local Files section under Collection in the sidebar. If you have too many files in your local repository, it’s a good idea to create playlists from local files.

Step 4: Now connect your smartphone to the same wireless network and open the Spotify app. Make sure you’re logged in with the same account you use in the desktop app, and click the Devices section in the sidebar under Main . iPod users can use the cable to connect.

Tip: If Android users are having trouble connecting, make sure your device drivers are installed on the computer and USB debugging mode is enabled in Android development settings .

Step 5: Once the desktop application identifies the connected device, a pop-up window appears asking if you want to sync the device with Spotify. Click on the button to open the synchronization window.

Step Six: The app lists all the playlists you’ve created in your Spotify account, as well as local files you’ve imported from your hard drive. If you want to sync your entire local library, enable Local Files . The sync process starts immediately and all tracks are synced to your iPod for offline playback.

Syncing may take some time depending on the number of titles you want to sync. Just make sure you don’t exceed the device capacity.

Conclusion

This way, you can sync local files you’ve purchased from various sources with the Spotify mobile app. As for the free users, I think you can listen to locally synced songs on your phone. According to Spotify TOS, only mobile on-demand streaming requires a premium account. Since I have a premium account I can’t test the functionality for basic users, but I was hoping you could let me know if it works.
