Those who master the Breach Protocol get more out of hacking in Cyberpunk 2077. Our guide will help you to solve the minigame in the best possible way.
We explain how to hack the Breach protocols in Cyberpunk 2077.
The Breach Protocol of Cyberpunk 2077 is not only needed for quests: It also brings you extra money and components when hacking access points. The many lines of code can get a bit intimidating, but the minigame in Cyberpunk 2077 looks more complicated than it is. We explain with an example, how it works and how to get the most out of the hacking game.
By the way, if you mainly want to earn money and not become the king of hackers, our comprehensive money guide for Night City will help you with more tips:
The starting situation
On the right side you can see the effects ( Daemons The following is a list of malware programs used for hacking) that you can trigger when hacking. So, in our example, small, medium or large loot (eurodollars and components) beckons. The further down an effect is, the better its impact – but also harder to achieve. If you are good, you can trigger more than one of them!
Pro Tip: Try to hack the lowest target if possible, and then if there is still time and opportunity, crack another one.
When you have chosen an effect (in our example "Data-Mining_V3"), you have to enter the given sequence (55 BD 55) into the buffer above. In our example these are four fields, but there are also longer ones. To enter the sequence, select the appropriate two-part code on the code matrix on the left and place it in the buffer like this.
Attention: Plan ahead!
However, you should not just take any matching code, but plan at least one step ahead: because the next required two-code must be in the same column, thenext in the row of the second one.
Your sequence can also start later: If you have four buffer fields like in the example, but only have to create a sequence of three, it is also sufficient if the last three two codes are set correctly. But as I said, if you’re smart about it and the buffer is long enough, you can also unlock two or more effects.
Attention: Keep an eye on the time!
But Careful: The countdown is running! Normally after 30 seconds the game is over, but we have extended the break time – how to do that you can read below in our tips on how to play the hacking game very cleverly. Speaking of tips, if you’re looking for general help getting started in Cyberpunk 2077, we’ve got a whole list of hints we wish we’d known before we started playing:
Hacking in detail: Create two Daemons
We stick to our example and crack the minigame step by step, this time even with two daemon effectsn:
- Since we need a 55 for the top and bottom daemon, we look for a 55 in the matrix that contains a BD in the same column, for example here – because we also need the BD for the bottom daemon . There are other possibilities, but we stay with the example.
- The required two-codes 55 and BD are now in the buffer . Only one more 55 is missing to complete the lowest daemon .
- The required 55 is in the same line to the left . This activates the lowest daemon. But we still have time and a buffer space left – that’s enough for the top daemon!
- Done! With the 1C the top daemon sequence 55 1C is also complete.
Make hacking minigame easier
The example above was still quite simple, there are of course more complex ones, for example with longer sequences. If you want to make hacking easier, put advantage points into the intelligence talent tree in the Breach Log tab:
With the skill Fast Drin! you increase the Breach countdown by 20 percent (level 1) or. 40 percent (level 2). Also, your skill progress increases the break time by five percent several times. If you manage to reach level 16 in Breach Protocol and Transmigration activated, the countdown will be extended by 50 percent again.
With the talents Fast Drin! and Transmigration as well as your progress in the Breach Log you extend the countdown. The skills Start Advantage and Compression also make the minigame easier.
With better cyberdecks you also get longer buffers – this helps to activate multiple daemons. Starting with an intelligence of 18, you can use the talent Start advantage select, from then on the first daemon on the list is automatically activated in the minigame. And from 20 intelligence the skill Compression selectable, which shortens all required sequences by a code of two (down to a minimum of two).
If hacking is still not your thing, maybe we can make melee more palatable for you. In fact, we have two guides for that – how to master the melee itself and how to build the ultimate ninja. But there are also plenty of tips on GameStar Plus, for example in the comprehensive walkthrough:
