Can you remotely locate any Android phone?? When it comes to locating your own smartphone, this question can be answered with a resounding "Yes". The situation is a little different if you want to locate a foreign cell phone – in this case it is much more difficult to locate it. In the following you will find out which options are available to you.
Locate phone via Google Device Manager
If you’ve lost your Android phone and are looking for a way to locate your smartphone, the easiest way is through Google Device Manager. This can be done via the web address android.com/find can be called. In order to perform cell phone tracking, the following requirements must be met:
- The location detection must be activated
- The "Find my device" function must be activated
- The target device must be logged into a Google account
- The target device must be visible on Google Play
- The target device must be connected to WLAN or a mobile data network
The "Find my device" function is activated by default on Android devices that are linked to a Google account. First open the device manager and log in to your Google account. If you own multiple devices, click on the phone you want to locate. The system now performs a localization. The current location is shown to you on a map. If the device cannot be found, the last known location will be displayed.
You have three options to choose from when locating via device manager: "Keep ringing", "Lock" and "Delete". If you select "Let ring", your smartphone will ring at full volume for five minutes – even if it was previously set to vibration or silent. With "Lock" you can lock your phone with PIN, pattern or password. If you haven’t set up a lock yet, you now have the opportunity to do so. "Delete" leads to the removal of all data located on the device.
Locate cell phone via app "Find my device"
If you have lost your Android smartphone and know someone who can provide you with their phone for a short time, you have a good chance of finding the phone again. On the other Android device, open the "Find my device" app and log in. Then click on "continue as [your name]". If you help a friend to find his smartphone, just tap on "log in as guest" and ask the friend to log in. Then follow the instructions that you will find in the top section of this post. Note, however, that this guide is only for Android devices version 8 and above.0 is suitable.
Locate cell phone via spy app
An interesting alternative to the two solutions mentioned above is the use of a so-called spy app. This is an application that is used for cell phone monitoring. To use the app, you must first install and set it up on the target device. This requires the consent of the user – unless the device is in your possession. Company cell phones may be monitored without the user’s consent.
Among the most popular apps that allow you to monitor and locate foreign cell phones from any location is mSpy. The spy software is available in three different versions and, if necessary, can be installed without physical access to the target device, as long as it is an iPhone. In addition to the cell phone location function, the app offers other useful features such as listening to email traffic, reading chats and blocking unwanted contacts.
