Take a screenshot in any computer game with a single keystroke and without installing any additional program? Nothing easier than that. This article shows you different ways how you can easily take your gaming screenshot.
The easiest way to take a screenshot is to press the "Print" key and then paste the image into MSPaint by pressing "CTRL" + "C". However, this is not only inconvenient, but also doesn’t always work perfectly in computer games. Furthermore, it can be annoying if you have two screens connected, because the print function takes pictures of both screens and you only wanted the gaming screenshot. Below are tools that every computer already has on board, with which the perfect game screenshot succeeds.
Use Windows 10 Game Bar (Xbox Game Bar)
The Windows 10 Game Bar is probably the easiest way to create a gaming screenshot. For this you only need Windows 10, which everyone should have by now.
You just have to press the key combination "WINDOWS" + "ALT" + "PRINT" in the game and then you can save a screenshot. The screenshot is then stored in the directory C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Videos\Captures.
You can open the Xbox Game Bar simply by pressing the key combination "WINDOWS" + "G. There you will also see all saved screenshots.
Use graphics card tools
The two major graphics card manufacturers nvidia and AMD have also added screenshot tools to their own software, which can also be used in computer games.
NVIDIA GeForce Experience
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you probably also have NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience software installed. If this is the case, you can take a screenshot simply by pressing the key combination "ALT" + "F1". The message "Screenshot has been saved to gallery" at the edge of the screen indicates that the screenshot was successful.
With the key combination "ALT" + "Z" you can open the mentioned gallery. By default the screenshots are saved under the path C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Videos\[GAME TITLE].
You have even more possibilities with NVIDIA Ansel. Here you can take an in-game screenshot with a 360 degree camera. However, this only works in certain games, such as Dishonored 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Middle-earth: Shadow of War or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. If the game supports NVIDIA Ansel, you can make the screenshot with "ALT" + "F2".
AMD ReLive
NVIDIA rival AMD also has a possibility with the ReLive feature, with which you can easily create gaming screenshots. But you need a graphics card based on the AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture.
If this is the case and you have activated ReLive, you can easily take a screenshot with "CTRL" + "SHIFT" + "E" or "ALT" + "Z".
Use in-game screenshot function
In certain computer games a screenshot function is also directly integrated. In any case, it’s worth taking a look at the options under Controls to see if a certain screenshot shortcut is already stored. If so, then you can just take the gaming screenshots directly with the game function.
Use Steam screenshot function
The game distribution platform Steam also has an integrated screenshot function. For this you only have to call a game from the Steam library and you can take a screenshot directly in the game by pressing the key "F12. You will then hear a short beep and get a message.
You can change the screenshot button in the Steam settings at any time. To do so, simply click on "Steam"> "Settings"> "In game" click, you can change the screenshot key combination as well as the screenshot folder.
