In the summer of 2021, Valve introduced the Steam Deck mobile console: LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga will also be playable on it.

If you check the IT or gaming news from time to time, you will probably have heard about the new game console from Valve: From the 25. February 2022 can use the Steam Deck could be pre-ordered by the first customers (before that it could only be reserved). The Steam Deck is a new mobile game console, reminiscent of the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo Switch: say we have our controller controls to the left and right of the screen. Starting at a price of 419 euros in Germany (for the smallest version with 64 GB internal memory), the device is more expensive than a Nintendo Switch – but cheaper than a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or an equivalent gaming PC.

Steam

If you’ve heard of Valve as a company, you’ll most likely know Steam as well. Steam is an online store for downloading PC games. The eponymous software has probably The largest digital game catalog (vs. competitors like Epic Games, Xbox Store, or GOG). So it’s not surprising that we find a lot of LEGO video games there as well. Also the soon to be released LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can already be pre-ordered there.

Valve currently only wants to sell the Steam Deck through its own online store, which is why you need an account there. This ensures that every buyer holds only one device. This is to reduce expensive resales on Ebay and other platforms (Scalper&).

And because production capacity is limited, the new console is sold in batches. From therefore you can first reserve a place in the waiting list, which is already since the 16. July 2021 is possible. The waiting list will – starting with the 25. February 2022 – gradually worked off. When reserving you can see in which quarter you can order your Steam Deck. Compared to consoles that are constantly sold out, like the Playstation 5, you at least know immediately when you can expect it.

Games on the Steam Deck

The Steam Deck now brings part of this game catalog to the new handheld: Since the Steam Deck uses its own operating system and relies mostly on controller control, and most Steam games are playable on Windows (some only with mouse and keyboard), not all games will run on this device. From now on all games will be tested by Valve one by one. Currently, there are well over 200 games that are playable on the Steam deck. There is a current list in the SteamDB (the BrickSet for Steam games &).

By the way: All games that you already own in your own Steam library and that work on the Steam Deck do not need to be bought again. If you own a lot of Steam games, you don’t need to get games first, unlike other consoles.

LEGO games

Returning to our LEGO theme: The first LEGO game has already been reviewed by Valve and rated as playable on Steam Deck. Below is a list of LEGO video games that are playable on the Steam Deck (the list will be expanded gradually):

    (✅ playable without restrictions)

The list is still manageable – but it can be strongly assumed that more games will follow, since for example all games from TT Games are based on the same engine&.
